Current Trips

The Chicago Training Center (CTC) schedule of recent and pending trips with brief descriptions follows.

Current Program Trips
Ohio State University
(Newark, OH)
Our next competition is the Columbus Fall Classic in Westerville, Ohio. The Columbus Fall Classic will be held on the morning and early afternoon of Saturday, October 13th. CTC competitive girls and boys will race in seven registered boats at the event. After the race we will tour the Ohio State University campus. CTC participants will depart and return to Midway airport for the trip. We will arrive in the Columbus, Ohio area Friday evening and stay at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza hotel near the event.
McCormick Tribune Bridgehouse Museum CTC program participants toured the Friends of the Chicago River's McCormick Tribune Bridgehouse Museum in August. We toured a working bridge house on the Chicago river where each floor of the bridgehouse taught us about different aspects of the river. The tour started and conclude with river tax rides from the Northwestern train station in Chicago..
University of Notre Dame
(Notre Dame, IN)
CTC participants had their first on-site college campus tour at the University of Notre Dame on June 7th.. We toured the campus and learned about the university and its rowing teams. On the return trip we stopped at the Indiana Dunes beach to practice swimming. Buses left from and returned to the New Life Center at 5101 S. Keeler for this trip.
Mid-Day Club CTC program participants joined the CTC board on Friday, March 30th. at the Mid-Day Club in Chicago. CTC members heard a presentation on private dining clubs by Mid-Day Club manager Tim Hauschildt and then toured the club. Following the tour, CTC particpants met with board member Bill Fedyna to learn about Oxford University and the benefits of the sport of rowing.
Tiro Cup
CTC was proud to host the first annual Tiro Cup, indoor rowing competition for novice, junior rowers from area schools and clubs. Parents and friends joined us at Pulaski Park at 5pm on Friday April 27th for the event and cheer on the CTC teams..

CIRC

Prior to the start of our Spring 2007 RAP program, CTC volunteers and particpants attended the Chicago Indoor Rowing Competition (CIRC) at Horner Park. The event, held in February, saw over 300 athletes compete on computer monitored rowing machines (ergs).
